THE DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY AND PLANT PHYSIOLOGY

The Botany and plant physiology department was established in 2005, by merging plant physiology department with the Learning – scientific Centre of Botany. Nowadays, Yuldashev Akramjon Sultanmuradovich, a doctor of biological sciences is a head of the department.

 

Botany Learning – scientific Centre was etablished in 1995 on the basis of Higher Plants Department created in 1924. Mixail Grigorevich Popov is a founder and the first head of the Higher Plants Department (1924-1926). Then, Ippolit Ivanovich Granitov (1961 - 1980), doctor of biological sciences, professor, Honoured Science Worker in Uzbekistan, the member of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Hoshim Meliyevich Ahunov (1980-1995), doctor of biological sciences, professor, Uktam Pratovich Pratov (1995-2005), doctor of biological sciences, professor, man of science of the Republic of Uzbekistan directed this department respectively.

 

Plant physiology Department was established in 1920. The founder of the Department, professor, Honoured Science Worker in Uzbekistan Andrey Vasilyevich Blagoveshenskiy during of a long period of time (1920-1930, 1941-1945) headed the Department. Blagoveshenskiy Andrey Vasilyevich also actively participated in creation of Botanists Community in Turkistan in 1921 and he himself directed it during 1921-1930 and 1941-1945. Later, an associate professor N. D. Leonov (1945 - 1948), an associate professor P. G. Marsakova (1948-1949), candidate of biological sciences, an associate professor Nikolay Antonovich Todorov (1949-1973), doctor of biological sciences, professor, academician of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmaljon Qosimovich Qosimov (1973 - 1976), candidate of biological sciences, an associate professor Yuldosh Akhmedovich Akhmedov (1976 - 1988), doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Karimjon Safarovich Safarov (1988-1997), candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Damir Komilovich Asomov (1998-2005) headed plant physiology department respectively.

 

Scientific researches of the department concern especially the matters of “The study of the impact of salinization on physiological and biochemical processes of Hossipium L.” and “ The study of vegetable cover of Uzbekistan and non-traditional plants .”

  • Academician A.I. Imomaliyev, the rector of Agricultural Institute of Tashkent, director of UzPITI, the president of Agriculture Academy of Uzbekistan.
  • Academician A.Q. Qosimov – rector of Andijan State University, vice-chairman of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
  • Academician N.N. Nazirov – leading scientists, creator of several Hossipium sorts.
  • Academician J.K.Saidov – the director of Botany Institute of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
  • Academician P.Q.Zokirov – director of Botanical Garden under Academy of Sciences of the republic of Uzbekistan.
  • Academician I. I. Granitov – head of Higher Plants Department of the National University of Uzbekistan.
  • Professor U.P.Pratov – science man of Uzbekistan, the founder of Central Herbarium of Botany Scientific Production Centre of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Learning and scientific activities of Yuldashev Akramjon Sultanmuradovich, the head of the Botany and Plant physiology department of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek

 

As a lecturer at the National University, he has been working since 2008 (before worked at Samarkand State University and in Scientific Production Centre “Botany” under Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent). As a head of the Botany and Plant physiology department has been working since 25th December of 2011.

 

Doctor of biological sciences (2001).

 

He is an author of more than 130 scientific and learning-methodical works, including 3 textbooks, 2 monographs and more than 12 learning-methodical works.

 

As a member of council of experts of Supreme Certification Commission under Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he carries out an assessment and elaboration of system of training of highly qualified personnel in biological sciences, an adoption of current technology.

 

He has participated in development and elaboration of more than 10 regulations, which regulate the activities of specialized councils and highest educational institutions.

 

He fulfills research efforts in priority directions of government’s scientific and technological program dealing with the development and enhancement of the geobotanical, phytocenological and resource researches in the republic.

 

Under his direction 2 Candidate’s dissertations have been defended and another 2 works have been prepared for defence.

 

Under his guidance has been prepared multimedia product concerning the rare and endangered plant species of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Central Herbarium under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

He has also prepared several atlases concerning natural landscapes of the Republic, popular science books, and one botany textbook.

 

He maintains close scientific contacts with scientists of Russia (St. Petersburg University, Ufa State University), Czech Republic (Institute of Botany under Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic), Poland (Opol University, Institute of Botany under Academy of Sciences of Polish Republic).
